Telecom Analytics for Fraud management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) , is an initiative launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in India. This system is designed to help combat fraudulent activities and ensure consumer protection within the telecom sector. It enables consumers to check whether their identity is being used to issue multiple SIM cards without their knowledge and provides them with a mechanism to take necessary actions if unauthorized SIM cards are found to be issued on their identity.
Through the TAFCOP portal, users can enter their mobile number to receive an OTP (One Time Password) for verification. Once verified, they can see all the mobile numbers issued against their ID and report any numbers that were not authorized by them. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to tackle fraud and enhance security measures in the telecom industry, ensuring that consumers’ rights are protected and that the telecom ecosystem remains secure and trustworthy.
Note: – The TAFCOP is currently operational in almost all states and Union Territories of India
You can access this TAFCOP portal from Sanchar Sathi Portal https://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/
The Report Incoming International Call With Indian Number (RICWIN) initiative is part of measures implemented by the Indian government, particularly the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), aimed at combating the misuse of telecom services for fraudulent activities. This specific initiative addresses a common fraud tactic where international calls are masked to appear as if they are coming from an Indian number. Such practices are often used in various scams, including financial frauds, impersonation, and phishing attempts, misleading the recipients into believing that the calls are local and possibly from legitimate sources.
RICWIN allows individuals to report instances when they receive international calls that are displayed with an Indian number on their caller ID. By reporting these incidents, consumers contribute to the identification and mitigation of fraudulent activities, enabling authorities and telecom service providers to take appropriate action against the misuse of telecom resources.
Note: – The RICWIN is currently operational in almost all states and Union Territories of India
You can access this RICWIN portal from Sanchar Sathi Portal https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/InternationalCall/ReportIntCall.jsp
